Land petitions
Many early settlers, both military and civilian, submitted petitions to the governor in order to obtain Crown land. The petitions often provide genealogical information such as country of origin and military service. The National Archives of Canada holds the following series of land petitions: Microfilm copies of the petitions and the nominal card indexes are available through the inter-institutional loan arrangement. |
